Coronation Street star Sair Khan has been seen praising her real-life partner after he took on the Peak District Ultra Challenge – a gruelling 75km trek – after having to learn to walk again.

Nathan Chilton, 39, from Stockport, was diagnosed with chondroblastoma – a very rare, non-cancerous bone tumour – in 2013 after complaining of pain in his groin. An MRI scan found a squash-ball-sized lesion, which was removed, but years later, the tumour returned, and he needed much more extensive surgery.

In 2022, Nathan had an internal hemipelvectomy, an eight-hour operation that involved removing 75 per cent of the right side of his pelvis and replacing it with a titanium plate.

He spent three weeks at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and, after the operation, had to retrain how to walk. Following the surgery, he was told the tumour had spread to his lungs, with the nodules now said to be stable, while there has been no recurrence in his pelvis.

It was over the weekend that Nathan, originally from Derbyshire, took on his challenge after hiking became an ‘outlet’ during his health struggles, and ‘changed [his] perspective on life’.

After completing more than 100,000 steps, having walked 73km in under 24 hours, and having raised £6,000 for Sarcoma UK, Nathan was celebrated by his partner Sair, who Corrie fans will know for playing Alya Nazir in the ITV soap.

Alongside a picture of Nathan at his finish line, the soap star, who shares a two-year-old son with Nathan, wrote on her Instagram Story: “You did it!!! Our hero!” She then shared a further update on Monday (July 6) as they headed out for a coffee. Alongside a smiling picture of Nathan, she wrote: “A well-earned rest day and coffee @njchilton @themissionplanet @sarcoma_uk.”

Sair and Nathan welcomed their first child into the world back in 2024. She kept much of her pregnancy out of the spotlight and as her exit scenes aired on-screen, the new mum confirmed her son’s arrival in May 2024 in a social media post.

She said at the time: “He’s here! … Our little boy is just marvellous. Very serious and curious about the world. He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour.”

The soap star has since shared little glimpses into her life as a mum-of-one and in her latest post, she shared photos from her camera roll that she had captured lately of herself, Nathan and their little boy, whose name they haven’t shared publicly.
