The disciplinary verdict is in after Super League Magic Weekend with just one player being banned and a total of 14 charged.

Magic Weekend broke records for attendance this year with almost 80,000 alone attending the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, whilst the seventh game in France drew over 5,000.

Fans were treated to some excellent action and the finale between Wigan Warriors and St Helens was arguably the game of the year and it’s no surprise that seven of the 14 charges this week have come from that game.

No players have been banned with the most severe charge being a Grade C handed to both Oliver Partington and Jake Wardle for head contact and striking, respectively. They were two of four Wigan players charged with Jack Farrimond and Junior Nsemba both copping Grade B charges for had contact and late contact, respectively.

As for St Helens, Davis Klemmer received a Grade B charge for striking, whilst George Delaney and Daniel Suluka-Fifita were both charged for head contact, albeit Delaney was a Grade B with the new recruit a Grade A. Interestingly, Jack Welsby avoided a ban despite two sin bins.

Onto the Hull derby and Jez Litten and Herman Ese’ese were both charged. The Hull KR man was hit with a Grade A charge for head contact whilst Ese’ese landed a Grade C charge for making contact with the match official.

Saturday’s action concluded with Warrington losing to Leigh Leopards but the talk was about Wire’s Sam Powell and his hip drop tackle, which Jon Wilkin argued deserved an eight-match ban. The Match Review Panel have handed down their verdict and issued the hooker with a Grade E charge of 21 points and a three-match ban.

That game also saw Leigh’s Matty Davis and Frankie Halton cop Grade A charges. Meanwhile, York’s Cody Hunter has avoided a ban for his hip drop-style tackle on Asher O’Donnell but he was handed a Grade C charge worth five points.
