The teenager is one of the top prospects in West Yorkshire and he is heading out to Florida on a golfing scholarship next month.
But before heading across the Atlantic, he has pulled off a memorable repeat.
The Silsden native won by four strokes last year at Keighley, but this year’s event at Shipley was much tighter.
After shooting an opening round 71, he was third behind Northcliffe’s Oliver Young and home golfer TJ Berry, who hit 68 and 69 respectively.
With 10 holes left in the tournament, Cunningham was one over par, four strokes behind Young.
But the Northcliffe man faltered with the end in sight, three successive bogeys seeing him overtaken with three holes remaining.
Credit must go to Cunningham though, the Ilkley GC teenager playing his final 10 holes in an incredible six under par.
Young birdied the final hole to finish four under, but Cunningham did the same, enough to win the tournament by a single stroke.
It was hard luck on former Inter-Club Foursomes Knockout winner Young, who was four shots clear of third-placed Oliver Tasker from Bradford Golf Club.
But he just could not hold off that Cunningham comeback.
Berry’s final round 77 saw him drop from second at the halfway stage to finish ninth overall.
There were 67 golfers competing in Sunday’s event.
We will look to speak to winner Cunningham in the coming days, as a follow up piece to this excellent achievement.
