No 7 Bottle Shop in St Helens will hold a fan event for supporters on Sunday, July 12, for the Saints vs Toulouse game.
The event will run from 12pm to 8pm at the former glassworks site, off the Tesco car park, a short distance from Saints’ BrewDog Stadium.
Four 75-inch screens will show Sky Sports coverage throughout the day, giving fans a place to enjoy the match in a unique setting.
Music will be provided by DJ Gavin Mitchell, who brings decades of experience to the event.
John Tabern, project director, said: “We felt it was appropriate to try a Fanzone for a Saints game first and we’ve been busy setting the Bottle Shop up for it, including hopefully having a Bouncy Castle outside for children.
“Who knows if it’s a success, we may well open for the semi-finals and final of the Football World Cup.”
Once overlooked in favour of nearby heritage sites, the St Helens venue has undergone £1.3 million of repairs and regeneration over the past 18 months.
The building is now finding new life as a community events space.
Already this year, it has hosted monthly artisan markets and festive family events.
Historic England describes it as “the most intact example of a late 19th-century Bottle Shop anywhere in the world.”
Despite its significance, it remains little known even within the town.
The new fan zone is part of an ongoing programme of events aimed at raising awareness and making the site financially sustainable.
Looking ahead to his DJ appearance, said: “I started my journey behind the decks in 1992, and have been fortunate to work at venues like The Dry Bar in Manchester, as well as clubs and bars across the North-West.
“I enjoy what I do and am looking forward to supporting the Fanzone on Sunday at such an incredible, iconic venue.”
Caroline Platt, project support officer, described the Fanzone as “being the next step along the path to make the Bottle Shop a versatile events venue”.
Food and drink will be available throughout the day.
Hot food will be served by resident market chef Taff Williams.
The event will also feature a licensed bar operated by Hannah and Tom from the Cinema Bar.
For those in the mood for Italian, T&I Planet Pizza will be serving up slices.
Organisers are also planning family-friendly activities.
The Bottle Shop is accessed from the Tesco car park, near to the Click and Collect pod.
Organisers are encouraging fans to look out for future events. One upcoming highlight is Furnace Fever, which will take place on August 8.
