The annual NHS survey gathers patient feedback from January 2 to April 13 through online and postal questionnaires.
It reflects patient views on making appointments, access to online services and out-of-hours services, offering a practice-level look at how surgeries are performing across England.
According to the 2026 GP Patient Survey, one St Albans practice came out on top with 94 per cent of patients rating their overall experience as good.

Grange Street Surgery ranked number one in the district, operating under the umbrella of Alban Healthcare.
Verulam Medical Group came second in the area, with 88 per cent of patients rating their overall experience as good. Impressively, only two per cent of customers named the service as fairly poor and zero per cent ranked the service as very poor.
The main practices under the group include the Colney Medical Centre in London Colney, Bricket Wood Medical Centre, and Coleridge House Medical Centre in Hemel Hempstead.
In third place was Davenport House Surgery in Bower Way, Harpenden. In total, 86 per cent of patients rated their overall experience as good at this surgery.

By contrast, satisfaction was much lower at the bottom of the table.
Hatfield Road Surgery in Ellis House, Charrington Place, stood out with 57 per cent of patients rating their overall experience as good. 10 per cent of users said the surgery was poor and nine per cent suggested it was very poor.

Across England, some 73 per cent of patients said they had an overall good experience the last time they contacted their GP practice, up from 67 per cent in 2024 and 70 per cent in 2025.
Health Secretary James Murray said: “The latest GP Patient Survey shows we’re making real progress to improve the front door of the NHS, with almost 77 per cent of patients reporting a ‘good’ experience – more than the last two years.”
