Coronation Street star Amy Robins has been teasing the arrival of a new character in Weatherfield and while she has filmed scenes with them, she’s admitted she wants more.

The actress returned to the ITV soap at the end of last summer in the role of Christina Boyd, having last been seen on the cobbles earlier that same year, when she was double-crossed by her daughter, Daisy Midgeley.

Christina also left the street afterwards. Then, in August 2025, Christina was seen back in Weatherfield, much to Jenny’s dismay. Sge was soon seen growing close to George Shuttleworth, who Jenny also had a crush on.

But Jenny ended up leaving the cobbles, and both George and Christina have seen their romance blossom ever since. And Amy recently revealed that viewers will learn more about Christina Boyd in upcoming scenes, which she has described as “revelatory”.

Speaking to Inside Soap, the soap star explained that viewers will discover a lot more about Christina in upcoming scenes, including her tough experience of being a mother.

But as well as what’s ahead for Christina, Amy has also been heard talking about new co-star Frances Barber, with it recently reported that the stage and screen star is joining the ITV soap; however, this hasn’t been confirmed by Corrie directly.

She is said to be playing a new character who has a connection to Bernie Winter-Alahan. Amy told Inside Soap: “I have to say she is just so perfect for Corrie – she’s everything Corrie women should be!

“Glamorous, a bit tough around the edges, but soft in the centre – just wonderful.” She added: “We did a few scenes together but I wished we’d done more. She was fabulous.”
