Police said they received several reports from members of the public about sports cars being driven dangerously and using roads “as a race track”.
One of the incidents saw officers from the Special Constabulary stop a high-performance Lamborghini on St Helens Road after it was allegedly being driven in an anti-social manner. The vehicle was subsequently seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, which allows police to remove vehicles being used in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance.
In a separate incident during the early hours of the morning, police were called to The Valley on Eagley Brook Way following reports of numerous cars being driven anti-socially.
Officers attended the scene and seized a vehicle under the same legislation. Following a search of one of the cars, police recovered numerous boxes of nitrous oxide, a Class C drug, along with a quantity of cash.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class C drug with intent to supply and remain in custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for GMP Bolton said: “A car has been seized after being driven anti-socially around Bolton.
“Last night, we received a number of calls from the public reporting sports cars using the roads as a race track.
“Officers from our Special Constabulary stopped this Lamborghini on St Helens Road driving anti-socially.
“The car was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.”
In relation to the Eagley Brook Way incident, the spokesman added: “In the early hours of the morning, we received reports of numerous cars driving anti-socially at The Valley.
“Officers from our Special Constabulary attended the location and one car was seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
“Following the search of one of the cars, numerous boxes of nitrous oxide and cash were recovered.
“Two men have been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of Class C drugs with the intent to supply.
“They remain in custody for questioning.”
The incidents form part of ongoing efforts by police to tackle anti-social driving across the borough following repeated complaints from residents.
