The Canaries will use the fixture to improve their condition as they continue to build up to the first competitive game in the Carabao Cup against MK Dons on August 8. This game will be held behind closed doors.

Midfield duo Mirko Topic and Gabe Forsyth are the only two currently sidelined through injury as they look to build up to the new season.

There is a larger group of players who have participated in training sessions but are still in the process of conditioning. They include new addition Andre Brooks, Ante Crnac, Ben Chrisene, Jovon Makama, Papa Amadou Diallo and Amankwah Forson. It remains to be seen whether any will step up for this fixture, with St Gallen next week expected to see the bulk of that list return.

Mathias Kvistgaarden is expected to be involved after being replaced 22 minutes in last weekend’s victory due to sickness, with City’s World Cup contingent yet to link back up with Clement’s squad, having been afforded a longer break.

Danny Cowley’s Colchester arrive at Colney having finished 12th in League Two last term, the fixture will be their first pre-season outing of the summer.

The Us squad includes former City defender Sean Raggett who has formed part of a wider recruitment drive that has seen Jake Leake, Paul Digby, and most recently Bradley Ihionvien follow the defender through the door at the JobServe Community Stadium.
