A man has died after falling from Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Emergency services were called to the hospital shortly before 10am Friday morning (July 10th).
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust said the man was working on construction at the hospital.
BSN Group Construction confirmed the incident and said their thoughts are with the man’s family and friends.
They also said they are working with West Midlands Police and the Health and Safety Executive with their investigation.
A spokesperson for BSN Group Construction site said: “We are saddened to confirm that a person has died following an incident at our construction site at Birmingham Children’s Hospital on Friday, 10 July.“Our thoughts are with their family, friends and colleagues at this extremely difficult time.“We take health and safety very seriously, and we are assisting the police, the Health and Safety Executive and all relevant authorities with their enquiries.“As investigations are ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust said: “There has been an incident at a construction site at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.“And our sympathies are with the family and friends of the individual involved. Support is being provided to those who have been affected.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We were called to Birmingham Children’s Hospital after a man is understood to have fallen from the building at just before 9.50am today (10 July).”The man was sadly confirmed dead a short time later and our thoughts are with his loved ones.”We are liaising with the Health & Safety Executive as enquiries continue.”
