The Rangers Review reported this week that Jefte had emerged as a key target for the Brasileiro Série A outfit before their close of business next month.
And we can now reveal that Rangers are in line for a hefty profit on the £800,000 they paid APOEL to bring the defender from Cyprus last summer.

Palmeiras made an initial approach to Ibrox chiefs earlier this week in an attempt to gauge the situation heading into the final days of the transfer window.
Further discussions have been held over the last 24 hours and a £6million fee has been agreed. The Rangers Review understands the deal will also include performance related add-ons and a sell-on clause.
The departure of Jefte will see Rangers look to move quickly in the market to address the left-back situation. The Brazilian started in the Champions League defeat to Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday evening and head coach Russell Martin will now be left with Max Aarons as his only viable option.
Rangers remain in discussions with Besiktas over a deal for Ridvan Yilmaz. The Rangers Review has previously reported that clubs in Europe are also keeping tabs on the situation at present but Besiktas president Serdal Adalı confirmed this week that initial talks had been held with Rangers and Yilmaz’s camp in an attempt to strike a deal.
Martin was quizzed about his potential options in the final days of business ahead of the third qualifying round second leg in the Czech Republic. The Ibrox boss addressed the future of midfielder Nico Raskin and made a general point about what the remainder of the window holds.
“I don’t think we’re in a position where we have to sell anyone,” Martin said. “I don’t think we’re in a position where we want to lose some of the best performers last season that we think can become really top performers for us this season and moving forward.
“So yeah, that’s the plan, unless someone comes in and blows our minds and everyone decides – the player, the club, everyone decides that it’s the best for everyone – and then we can make sure we’re in a position to replace, then we’ll with someone else. It’s the same for anyone, I think, at any club in world football now.”
