The fighter will face Italian opponent Enzo Tobia in a middleweight contest at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) 91, taking place in Naples on Saturday, July 18.
A former light heavyweight champion, Mr Christie also fought for the middleweight world title in Marbella.
A win in Italy could put him back in contention for future high-profile bouts.
Arron Adair, Mr Christie’s coach, said: “Danny has been itching to get back in the ring.
“He’s had a couple of gloved bouts to keep him ticking over, but the BKFC is what excites him.
“We can’t wait to show the world that he isn’t done yet.
“All the hard work is now done; we fly out to Italy next week, and he’s ready to go into the lion’s den and come out on top, with a massive performance and win.
“Massive thankyou to all the fans from across Cumbria that’s making the trip to Italy.”
Mr Christie trains at AA Boxing under Mr Adair.
