Andy Johnson is among the latest batch of former Blues to be confirmed in the Everton side for the legends game with Roma. A club record signing when he was signed from Crystal Palace in 2006, his highlights included the brace he scored in a 3-0 Merseyside derby win.
He is one of eight players announced as being part of the special day on August 9. The occasion will see Everton’s senior side play at the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time. They will face Friedkin sister team AS Roma before each club faces off in a legends match after the final whistle.
Johnson will be joined by James Vaughan, who remains the Premier League’s youngest-ever goalscorer after his 2005 strike against Palace – scored when he was just 16 and 270 days. Former Wales international Mark Pembridge, who made more than 100 appearances for the Blues, and Steven Naismith, whose 25 goals in Royal Blue included a perfect hat-trick against Chelsea, have also signed up.

They will join James McFadden, Yakubu, Gareth Barry and goalkeeper Jan Mucha in a side that will be led by Peter Reid.
For Roma, Serie A winner David Pizarro, winger Diego Perotti, midfielder Francisco Lima and back-to-back Coppa Italia winner Max Tonetto have been added to their legends line-up.
They will join Aldair, Simone Perotta, Marco Delvecchio and Damiano Tommasi. Former England boss Fabio Capello, who played for and managed Roma, will lead them.
The match is scheduled to be the final test event at the Hill Dickinson and is already a sell-out, with 52,769 set to fill the stunning new ground. The first team friendly will kick-off at 3pm and the legends match will follow at 5.15pm.
