Coronation Street fans were quick to share their delight as Carla Connor-Swain made a brief comeback ahead of more dramatic scenes for the fictional family in the long-running show.
A spoiler video released by the ITV soap has already revealed that in Wednesday’s (July 15) episode of Corrie, the Underworld factory boss makes a frantic dash to join wife Lisa Connor-Swain as their daughter, Betsy Swain, fights for her life.
At the end of last week, Betsy was seen ploughing on with her plans to leave the cobbles, having landed a place at a fashion college in London. Wanting to spend more time with Dylan before her move, during Monday’s (July 13) visit to Weatherfield, after a disastrous attempt at cooking breakfast for Dylan, Betsy asks him for some cooking lessons.

After having earlier criticised her breakfast-making skills, Dylan returned to No.6 and showed Betsy how to make a Bolognese and assured her that they’ll make their long-distance relationship work.
But it was earlier in the episode that Carla was seen at home, checking in on Lisa, who was taking painkillers for what she said was a headache, before suggesting the detective take some time out and meet her for some dinner.
Lisa refused because she’s busy running the investigation into Theo Silverton’s death, and when DC Kit Green popped by to offer his two pence on the murderer being Gary Windass, the former flame of her current partner, Sarah Platt, Carla quipped that he should let Sarah know she’s starting a ‘police widows’ club.
While the drama is currently leading towards what lands Betsy seriously ill in the hospital, Corrie fans couldn’t help but share their joy at Carla, played by actress Alison King, being back on-screen.

Her return comes after Alison was recently heard opening up about the difficult period she has suffered. In a video posted to TikTok, Alison, 53, explained what she had been going through, including the loss of her mother, as she experienced reflexology and Reiki treatment.
After mentioning her heartbreaking loss, the soap star went on: “The beginning of this year, I got a chest infection from two of the gorgeous little babies at work. Actually, when we were filming the wedding, I had been coughing and coughing and coughing…My right lung was hurting, my chest was hurting anyway, it was sick of the coughing, it was inflamed.”
She went on to share how she choked on a mint she was sucking to try to soothe her symptoms, which caused a large cough and made her feel like she tore the intercostal muscle in her chest.
“Because of my nervous system and not doing anything, I was really struggling to breathe a full breath; I couldn’t swim, which I do all the time because that’s my therapy; I couldn’t do anything,” Alison explained, as she shared how she acknowledged how her body was struggling and that she’s now “good and happy”.
