In a post shared to Facebook titled ‘Warning – Cuteness Overload!!’, the charity – which acts as an independent lifeboat and search and rescue team for the city – shared an image of a baby fox which had been rescued from the Ouse.
They said that at 5am yesterday (July 13), a member of their volunteer crew saw the cub fall into the river and entered the water in order to rescue the small creature.

A spokesperson said: “Unable to swim nor get out by itself our crew member was concerned members of the public would enter the water risking themselves to rescue it.
“Instead, he grabbed his rescue kit, swam out and recovered the little cub to the shore.”
York Rescue Boat added that a woman had taken the fox to be checked over before it was released again and that the animal was doing well.
