The American was dropped from the peloton again today but his team director hopes he can improve over coming days.

As we pass through the middle week of this Tour de France, Matteo Jorgenson is going through it.
The American crashed on the descent of the Puy Mary on stage 10, a similar spot to where Pinarello-Q36.5’s Tom Pidcock slid out into a Tour photographer’s parked car and his teammate Chris Harper also lost part of his left thumb in a fall, finishing the stage but later abandoning the race.
Jorgenson was able to continue, albeit painfully. He was dropped from the peloton on stage 11 and again with 24 kilometres remaining of stage 12, as the pace ramped up towards the foot of the day’s last climb, the fourth category Côte de Montagny-lès-Buxy.
The American finished in the 14-man grupetto nearly eight minutes down. Back at the Visma-Lease a Bike bus, sports director Marc Reef gave Escape Collective an update as to his rider’s condition.
