Manchester United’s hopes of signing Crysencio Summerville have been dealt new blows following further developments around his future over the weekend. The West Ham United winger had been identified as a left-wing target for Michael Carrick’s side.
However, Serie A heavyweights AS Roma have now offered the Hammers £39million for the Dutchman, according to reports in Italy. It’s understood the relegated East Londoners are after £50m for the Netherlands star, who scored two goals and assisted twice in the World Cup.
Things are expected to get trickier for United, as Aston Villa have been tipped to join the race for Summerville. This news emerged after Chelsea got the greenlight to sign Morgan Rogers, having struck a verbal agreement for £117million.

Reports from Sky Sports had claimed Roma are closing in on Summerville, edging closer to an acceptable deal, while the player has given the green light to a move to the Italian club.
And it has since been reported by The Athletic that Villa could well turn to Summerville as a potential replacement for England international Rogers, but they’ll have to act quick to beat Roma or United to his signature.
A move to Chelsea for Rogers is set to be wrapped up imminently, with a medical scheduled for Monday.
Villa will then need to look for targets to fill the void departed by the versatile attacker, who provided the assist for Anthony Gordon’s goal in England’s World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina.

Summerville and Paris Saint-Germain’s Ibrahim Mbaye are believed to be the two stars Villa are eying to sign. They have already wrapped up the arrivals of Switzerland World Cup star Johan Manzambi and an announcement is imminent for the capture of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder and past United target Joao Gomes.
United’s main focus in this transfer window has been rebuilding their midfield after the exit of Casemiro and long-term injury to Manuel Ugarte. Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have already been signed from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively, but the Reds are eying a third midfield addition to join Kobbie Mainoo.

However, left wing is also understood to be of importance to Carrick’s side. It’s also felt another striker is on their agenda for this summer.
Whomever comes in, director of football Jason Wilcox recently pledged to do everything he can to make sure the squad can compete on all fronts. He said: “Michael has done an excellent job and thoroughly earned the opportunity to continue as head coach of our men’s team.
