A new Geekbench 6 listing of the upcoming AMD Zen 6-powered 10-core “Medusa Point” APU has surfaced.
A fresh Geekbench leak of AMD’s upcoming Zen 6-based 10-core “Medusa Point” APU has surfaced, promising a healthy uplift over its Zen 5 predecessor despite boasting a maximum clock speed of just 2152 MHz.
The past few months, we have covered Geekbench leaks regarding AMD’s upcoming Zen 6-powered Medusa Point lineup, expected to launch early next year, quite a few times. Thanks to @9550pro on Twitter, it appears that we have a fresh set of scores on our hands, and this one appears to be higher than any we have reported on before.
AMD Zen 6 engineering sample finally gets a chance to shine
Just like last time, the processor carries the exact same identifier, packing a 10-core setup consisting of 4 cores (likely Zen 6) and 6 cores (likely Zen 6c). The base frequency remains just 2 GHz, while the maximum frequency has seemingly climbed to 2152 MHz.
According to the listing, the engineering sample managed to clock 3,329 points in the single core and 16,555 points in the multicore test.
Compared to the previous listing, the revised sample appears to have received a roughly 5% improvement in single-core and a whopping 10% improvement in multi-core scores. Further enhancements are likely as the chip nears its launch, making us believe that there is still some performance left on the table.
To put things into perspective, AMD’s latest Ryzen AI 9 465 Gorgon Point APU also packs a 10-core setup based on the Zen 5 architecture, and manages around 2,900 and 14,600 points in single and multicore tests respectively. Apple’s 10-core M5 (MacBook Air curr. $1,255 on Amazon) , on the other hand, manages to score a whopping 17,200 points in the same test, putting it well ahead of the Medusa Point part – at least for now.
