After opening registrations for its sixth season, Shark Tank India has rolled out a new campaign, #DontBeATota, highlighting the difference between using startup jargon and understanding how to build a business.

The campaign centres on a parrot named Tota, a character who confidently throws around terms such as valuation, burn rate and EBITDA, believing that startup buzzwords alone can impress the Sharks. Through the character, the campaign underlines that business fundamentals, execution and problem-solving matter more than fluency in entrepreneurial terminology.

Conceptualised by The Script Room, the campaign builds on the show’s focus on encouraging entrepreneurship by calling for founders who understand their businesses and can clearly articulate their ideas.

Over the past five seasons, Shark Tank India has provided entrepreneurs from across the country with a platform to pitch their businesses, secure investments and expand their ventures. With #DontBeATota, the show continues to spotlight founders who bring clarity, conviction and business understanding, rather than relying solely on startup vocabulary.

Aman Gupta, co Founder- boAT and founder, OFF/BEAT: “If repeating startup buzzwords was enough to build a business, we would all be investing in parrots. That’s the thought behind this campaign. Over the years, Shark Tank India has helped make entrepreneurship part of mainstream conversations, and that’s something we are incredibly proud of. But building a company has never been about sounding like an entrepreneur, it is about solving real problems, understanding your business inside out and showing the resilience to keep building every single day. That’s exactly the kind of founders we’re excited to meet in Season 6.”

Registrations for Shark Tank India Season 6 are currently open on Sony LIV.

Shark Tank India Season 6 is co-powered by Lahori Zeera and L’Oréal Paris, with White Gold and Lal Sweets on board as partners.
