Ahead of LIV Golf’s return this week, Jon Rahm was asked for an update on the league’s precarious future…
Jon Rahm has stopped short of confirming whether he will be a LIV Golf player next season.
Rahm was directly asked about LIV’s future here at the league’s event at JCB Golf & Country Club in England’s Staffordshire, where the league is returning after a seven-week break.
The league is searching for the $300 million in funding it requires to remain operational next season, with the clock now ticking for investment after the retreat of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund.
“We’re in contact with them,” Rahm said when asked whether he had clarity on his future. “We know a lot of what’s going on. Not that I can share with you guys right now.”
He continued: “I’m always optimistic. I play a game for a living. I can’t really be too upset about how things are going in life. Even though I’m very frustrated on the course very often, off the course I’m very different to what a lot of people think.”
So would Rahm expect to play LIV Golf in 2027? He took a pause before replying: “I’m not going to share anything that I can’t share with you guys right now.”
