Should King Charles and Queen Camilla be honoured with a state banquet, it would provide ample opportunity for the Princess of Asturias and her sister to make their debut in tiaras. Leonor, 20, and Sofia, 19, have waited longer than many other royal women to dazzle in a piece of heirloom jewellery, and royal watchers would no doubt be thrilled to see the eminently qualified pair delve into the House of Bourbon’s jewellery box.

The last time that Charles and Camilla met with the Spanish royals was in 2023, when both Felipe and Letizia travelled to London as guests for the King’s coronation at Westminster Abbey. They will have also joined a myriad of other international royals at the Buckingham Palace reception.

The two families appear to enjoy a close bond. When King Felipe visited Britain in 2022, he was welcomed to Clarence House by King Charles and the pair were seen enjoying a number of jokes together. Felipe and Letizia were also invited to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and to the late monarch’s lying-in-state at Westminster Hall.
