Denzel Bentley has suggested Chris Eubank Jr should face him for the WBO middleweight world title.

Eubank Jr hasn’t fought since being beaten by Conor Benn in their grudge rematch.

The British star has had a host of health issues, which had plunged his career into doubt.

But he is expected to return, with talks to face Michael Zerafa having been held over a clash down under in Australia.

However Zerafa has signed with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and the option Eubank Jr previously had is now in doubt.

But newly crowned WBO middleweight champion Bentley, a British star who was upgraded after Janibek Alimkhanuly vacated the title, has an answer for Eubank Jr.

He said on talkSPORT: “I’d love the Chris Eubank Jr fight. It is a domestic dust-up.

“I’d like it if that’s possible and he’s still at middleweight. It’s a great fight.

“It’d make a lot of noise in the UK, he’s someone that’s always spoken about wanting to become a world champion.

“This would be his chance to compete for one if that is one of his goals.

“I have some free space to do a voluntary defence and if it was Eubank, I’d be happy.”

Eubank Jr has yet to commit to any target return date, but it likely won’t be until the final quarter of 2026.

It is also unclear if he’d be able to fight at 160lbs, given his struggles boiling down to the weight for his clash with Benn.

More likely, Eubank Jr will choose to return at 168lbs where Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez competes.

When will Eubank Jr be back?

Although it is currently unclear, one of the big alternative options could be a fight in Nigeria in December.

It is being eyed by organisers alongside Anthony Joshua and Moses Itauma to headline events in the region.

Promoter Ezekiel Adamu has suggested Eubank Jr is on board and has travelled to Africa for talks.

He said: “Chris came here for business to explore what we can do here. He understands the power Nigeria has got.

“He understands that up until this date, the biggest event in Africa is still The Rumble in the Jungle and someone has to do something differently.

“Chris is excited about possibility of fighting here in Nigeria at some point this year, maybe around December, we’re speaking with a few opponents and hopefully we’ll get that off the line.
