Hull FC’s miserable derby run continued with Hull KR securing a ninth consecutive victory in this fixture with a 34-20 victory at the MKM Stadium on Thursday night.
The Black and Whites took an early 12-0 lead with tries from Joe Batchelor and Davy Litten but from then on in, it was all Rovers, who dominated territory and eventually the scoreboard. Here are the ratings.
Logan Moy – Got done at marker by Arthur Mourgue and was beaten in the air by Jack Broadbent for a crucial try at the start of the second half. Couldn’t keep hold of Joe Burgess either, as the Rovers winger ran the length to score after an interception pass from Arthur. Took some tough catches and deserves credit for that but had to be better in the game’s biggest moments. A tough night. 4
Harvey Barron – Safe under the high ball and strong in his carries. One of Hull’s better performers. 5
Zak Hardaker – Worked hard all night and got some reward late on with a try assist for Arthur. Smart kick and was 100% with the tee. 5
Davy Litten – Got on the end of Arthur’s kick to score Hull’s second try and saved a try with a last-ditch tackle on Tom Davies. A couple of errors but kept going. 5
Tom Briscoe – The veteran celebrated becoming a doctor pre-match with the completion of his pHD but that was the highlight of his day. Some uncharacteristic errors and at big stages of the game. 4
Jake Arthur – Produced one try assist with a kick for Litten and scored from Hardaker’s kick but failed to land his biggest moment with Burgess intercepting a pass near the Hull line and going the length. Hull’s attack was clunky for the most part in what ended up being another frustrating match. 4
Aidan Sezer – Broke the Rovers line before passing to Batchelor for Hull’s first try. That was as good as it got. 4
Hugo Salabio – Produced a huge hit on Tyrone May in the first play and ran hard in his time on the field. Didn’t return after his first stint. 5
Cade Cust – Helped get Hull on the front foot early on. Struggled in his second stint, as Rovers were firmly in control at that point. 4
Harvie Hill – Big stint in the first half and ran hard but ultimately part of a beaten side. 5
Joe Batchelor – In the right place to score the game’s first try. Defended well. Again, one of Hull’s better players. 5
Ethan O’Neill – Hit some strong lines and was far from Hull’s worst. 5
James Bell – Part of a clunky spine that didn’t look in sync. The story of the season. 4
Herman Ese’ese – Some strong carries but not enough as Rovers dominated field position. Also part of a middle unit defence that got exposed. 4
Amir Bourouh – Came on as the tide was turning. Asked to defend a lot as Rovers dominated territory but didn’t help Hull with a deliberate pass to Sam Luckley that per the RFL rulebook is ‘against the spirit of the game’ and was subsequently penalised. Gave away another penalty that extended Rovers’ lead to 14 points soon after and was taken off. 3
Lennon Clark – The youngster got his second taste of the derby in just his fifth senior appearance. Didn’t back down. 5
Max Wood – Hull’s first interchange and was quickly into the action on a tough night. 4
