A BBC legend will be returning to Saturday night TV after Casualty comes to an end tonight.
Medical drama fanatics are gutted to see the end of Casualty season 12 on BBC One but it’s exciting replacement has already been confirmed.
Actor Steve Coogan is back as the socially awkward and egotistical radio presenter Alan Partridge in a repeat episode of How Are You? It’s Alan (Partridge) on Saturday, August 1, at 9.10pm, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
The six-episode mockumentary follows Partridge’s “personally brave return to television” as he makes the UK’s supposedly “first ever documentary about mental health”.
This fourth episode sees him convinced that he will “unlock a heroic side some people doubted he ever had” as he explores whether or not nature can “heal a troubled mind”.
Apart from Coogan’s unforgettable alter ego, he is also known for starring in various hit films and shows like Netflix’s Legends, Philomena and The Penguin Lessons, to name a few.
In terms of his Alan Partridge career, the 60-year-old has filmed various spin-offs following the original 1990s sitcom, as well as the film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
But before Partridge can return, there is still the final episode of Casualty season 12, Lethal Legacy, to air this evening, Saturday, July 25, at 9.10pm, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
And going by the synopsis for episode 12, it’s going to be a jam-packed and busy finale for those at Holby City Hospital.

The description states: “Flynn faces a moral dilemma when he is called out to an army barracks, where an active shooter is on the loose and Bard has been targeted.
“Matty is cautious around Dylan as they work together to treat a 13-year-old drowning patient, Cam comes up with a plan to reform how patients are treated in the corridors, and Rash has a crisis of confidence.”
This entire series has seen the Emergency Department descend into turmoil after a mysterious virus broke out, leading to the army’s involvement in the area.
Dr Stevie Nash (played by Elinor Lawless) and junior medic Matty Linlaker (xx) have also been trying to keep their romance under wraps but will they be able to hide their relationship for much longer?
