A man has been arrested in connection with two sex attacks less than two hours apart in Rochdale.
The man in his 20s has been held on suspicion of attempted rape following the incidents in the borough this morning (Saturday, July 25), which are being treated as linked.
The first incident, which happened in Broadfield Park in the town centre, was reported to police at around 6:15am. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said a she had been seuxally assaulted by a stranger.

There was then a second incident n Milnrow Memorial Park which was reported at 8:38am. The woman also said she had been attacked by a man she didn’t know.
Police previously said both women had given ‘similar’ descriptions of the perpetrator, and that they were looking for for ”a black male believed to have been wearing a three piece suit or smart black clothes and a dark coat.’ He was also said to have been carrying a briefcase.
They said ‘robust investigation’ was underway and that CCTV enquiries had shown a suspect leaving the Coco Lounge in Rochdale town centre at 5am.
In an update issued tonight, they said a man in his 20s had now been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted rape.
“The man remains in custody for questioning as enquiries continue” the force said in a statement. “The victims are being supported by specialist officers in this difficult and traumatic time” they added.
They are continuing to appeal for anyone with information that could help detectives, to come forward.
