A local farm nestled on the Cornish moors is providing a unique vantage point for the upcoming solar eclipse – alongside alpacas.
Alpaca Trekking with Moor View Alpacas, based at Ninestones Farm near Liskeard, has announced an exclusive evening event that pairs a guided walk alongside friendly alpacas with a front-row view of the celestial phenomenon.
Away from urban light pollution and town crowds, the rural moorland location says it is positioned as one of the region’s prime viewing spots for the event – if the weather is on its side, of course.
The experience begins with a relaxed trek through the countryside, allowing visitors to lead alpacas across the open landscape. If weather conditions remain clear, the group will pause mid-trek to witness the moon pass between the Earth and the Sun – a rare event set against the dramatic backdrop of the moors.
Following the trek, guests will gather for a sit-down two-course dinner, complete with a complimentary drink to round out the evening. Organisers have, however, acknowledged the unpredictability of British weather, noting that while clear skies cannot be guaranteed, the open expanse of the moors offers good odds of a clear view if the weather holds.

Regardless of cloud cover, the farm emphasises that the combination of livestock trekking, scenic views and local food promises a memorable evening.
Due to the intimate nature of the trek, spaces for the event are strictly limited. Tickets include the guided alpaca walk, eclipse viewing access, dinner and a drink.
A spokesperson says: “This is a truly special evening that brings together nature, great food and a rare astronomical event.” Tickets are £59.95 per adult.
