RBC Wealth Management Bolsters Asia Expansion
RBC Wealth Management is stepping up its recruitment drive in Asia, appointing six senior private bankers across Hong Kong and Singapore.
RBC Wealth Management has strengthened its private banking franchise in Asia with a series of senior appointments in Hong Kong and Singapore, as competition for experienced relationship managers across the region remains intense.
The Canadian wealth manager announced the recruitment of six senior bankers from rivals including UBS, DBS, Standard Chartered, Bank of Singapore, Julius Baer, UOB and Bank J. Safra Sarasin.
The appointments come as international wealth managers continue to invest heavily in Asia, where rising private wealth, entrepreneurial capital and cross-border family office structures are driving demand for sophisticated advisory services.
Focus on Greater China and Southeast Asia
In Hong Kong, RBC has appointed Ivy Ma as Executive Director. She joins from Standard Chartered, where she served as Head of Markets Sales, bringing more than two decades of experience across treasury, corporate and private banking.
Jackson Huang joins as Director after senior positions at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, DBS Private Bank, Julius Baer and Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management. Malcolm Chai has been named Associate Director, joining from UBS Global Family and Institutional Wealth, where he advised ultra-high-net-worth clients, family offices and institutional investors across Greater China and Southeast Asia.
In Singapore, Shirley Tee joins as Managing Director and Team Head for North Asia. She previously led the Indonesia team at Bank of Singapore and earlier held investment advisory roles at UBS.
George Joseph has joined RBC’s Global South Asia team from DBS Private Banking, while Sindy Shi arrives from UOB, where she advised offshore Greater China clients.
Competing for Top Talent
The latest hires highlight the continuing battle among international private banks to attract experienced client advisers, particularly in Hong Kong and Singapore. Institutions have increasingly targeted senior bankers with established client relationships as wealth creation across Asia continues to outpace many other regions.
RBC, which has operated in Hong Kong since 1969 and in Singapore since 1975, serves clients across Greater China, Southeast Asia and other key regional markets through booking centres in Hong Kong and Singapore, supported by an operations hub in Malaysia.
