Film crews and lighting rigs were spotted multiple times at Swindon’s closed-down Oasis Leisure Centre in February and March 2025, as production got underway on a new TV show.
Now, the official trailer for Apple TV’s Neuromancer has been released.
The series is set to air on January 22, 2026, based on the award-winning sci-fi writer William Gibson’s 1984 cyberpunk novel.
Set in a dystopian future, the plot of Neuromancer follows a psychologically damaged, elite computer hacker named Case who is reluctantly pushed into a web of digital espionage and high-stakes crime with his partner Molly after embezzling cash from a boss.
The new trailer features several shots of Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre, which closed down in 2020, with a backdrop 25 seconds into the clip believed to be the abandoned swimming pool.
According to IMDb, Neuromancer cast members include Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts), Briana Middleton (The Inheritance), Peter Sarsgaard (September 5), Max Irons (The Host, Dorian Gray), Andre De Shields (Hadestown The Musical), Clemence Poesy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and more.
Actor Mark Strong, who is best known for his appearances in Stardust, Sherlock Holmes, Shazam: Fury of the Gods and The Imitation Gam was allegedly spotted by eagle-eyed Swindon residents at the empty Swindon leisure centre.

Other filming locations reportedly include Tokyo, Los Angeles, Istanbul, Canada and London.
Creators and executive producers Roland and Dillard said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing this iconic property to Apple TV+.
“Neuromancer has inspired so much of the science fiction that’s come after it and we’re looking forward to bringing television audiences into Gibson’s definitive ‘cyberpunk’ world.”
Seven Capital, the de facto owner of the Oasis Leisure Centre via a 99-year lease, was not able to provide a comment on the filming at the Oasis last year.

The dome-shaped leisure centre is the home of many childhood memories for young people who grew up in and around the town, but has been closed since November 2020.
The Oasis first opened in Swindon on January 1, 1976 and according to Neil, the impact it has had on the town is “huge”.
At the time, it was lauded as the “biggest leisure dome in Europe”. It is now one of the last remaining leisure pools designed by Gillinson Barnet & Partners that still stands in the UK.
All others are understood to have been demolished or significantly changed.
Plans to demolish the Oasis Leisure Centre sports hall in Swindon have officially been signed off.
However, other parts of the site, including the leisure centre’s iconic dome, remain protected.
