Super League Rivals Returns lived up to the billing with a 2026 season record combined attendance recorded as well as some thrilling games, but sadly it’s been another round that is high on the injury count.
It should perhaps be no surprise that derby clashes draw out the physicality of Super League but the injury toll will leave a number of clubs very worried heading into round 21, whilst some may even lose players for the remainder of the season.
The action started on Thursday as Hull KR continued their winning run against Hull FC, before Friday saw Wakefield and Wigan win big against Castleford Tigers and St Helens, respectively.
Huddersfield secured a first win in 112 days when they beat York before Leigh continued their march into the play-offs by beating Warrington ahead of Catalans’ avenging their Magic Weekend defeat against Toulouse.
Leeds Rhinos capped off the weekend with a win as they beat Bradford 42-12 at Headingley but it’s perhaps Brad Arthur’s side who have the biggest injury worry of any team, with star winger Maika Sivo suffering a suspected broken arm in that game.
Super League round 20 injury news
Starting with Maika Sivo, the Fijian has suffered a serious arm injury with the early suspicion being that he has broken his forearm, something that would rule him out for around six weeks.
That’s a major blow to Leeds but also ends any hope of the Fijian breaking the single-season try-scoring record in Super League. The Rhinos also lost Ben Littlewood to a hamstring injury, with both men set for scans.

Whilst Leeds lost two, Bradford have potentially lost three with star man Jayden Nikorima having his shoulder come out and then go back in but he was unable to return. Jack Ormondroyd played through an ankle issue that could rule him out for next week, whilst Phoenix Steinwede also ended the game with injury complaints.
The Bulls will be short of bodies for their clash against Hull KR, who came through relatively injury-free against Hull FC. Sauaso Sue had been carrying a foot issue into the game and played limited minutes but Willie Peters had little else to report, whilst Andy Last was thankful to confirm a clean bill of health.
Castleford Tigers saw Ashton Golding suffer a hamstring injury in their loss to Wakefield, whilst Semi Valemei did not play due to the same injury. George Lawler (groin) also missed out on that game.
St Helens would lose three players in their loss to Wigan with the most significant being George Delaney who came off with a shoulder/pec issue that could sideline him for a long time if it is a torn pec. They also lost Jed Cartwright to a quad injury, whilst youngster Matty Evans failed his HIA.
David Nofoaluma of York, Niall Evalds of Huddersfield, James Bentley of Warrington and Edwin Ipape of Leigh all failed HIAs, though the Leopards also lost Frankie Halton to a suspected torn pec that would end his season if that is the case.
Bentley’s teammate Kelepi Tanginoa pulled out in the warm-up of that game with a knee issue whilst Gaz O’Brien also pulled out on the day.
Toulouse star also Olly Ashall-Bott went off early with a hamstring injury that will be a major concern for the French side.
