Coastal Cruises, a family run business based in Poole, is offering a specially timed journey to view the expected deep partial solar eclipse.
According to the Royal Museums Greenwich, people in the UK and Ireland will see a partial solar eclipse, when around 90% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon, on Wednesday, August 12.
This will be the most coverage seen from the UK and Ireland since the 1999 solar eclipse, which was total from most of Cornwall and Devon.

The two-hour Sunset Solar Eclipse Cruise will depart Poole Quay at 6pm and return at 8pm, giving passengers uninterrupted views of the phenomenon as the moon passes in front of the sun.
Carol Scott, managing director of Coastal Cruises, said: “Events like this don’t come along very often, and we wanted to create something really special.
“Watching a solar eclipse from the waters Poole Harbour, surrounded by beautiful scenery as the Sun begins to set, promises to be an unforgettable experience.
“Whether you’re an astronomy enthusiast or simply looking for a unique evening out, this is a cruise you’ll remember for years to come.”
Guests will be able to watch the eclipse from open decks or relax in the indoor lounges.
The cruise also features a fully licensed bar and live commentary from the Coastal Cruises crew.
Passengers are reminded that they must bring their own ISO 12312-2 certified solar eclipse glasses in order to safely view the event as according to the organisers, regular sunglasses do not provide sufficient protection.
Coastal Cruises also offers sightseeing cruises, Jurassic Coast trips, themed events and other special journeys throughout the year.
Ms Scott said: “We spend every day showcasing the beauty of Poole Harbour, but this cruise offers something completely different.
“It’s the chance to experience a remarkable natural event from the water with family and friends, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone on board.”
The company are advising the public to buy in advance to avoid disappointment.
