(Gray News) – The first fixed-dose combination of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and naproxen sodium was approved by the FDA.
The over-the-counter tablet is designed for temporary relief of minor aches and pains due to headache, backache, muscular aches, toothache, menstrual cramps and minor arthritis pain in adults and children 12 and older.
Acetaminophen and naproxen sodium are among the most widely used OTC pain relievers in the United States, the FDA said.
Combined in a single tablet, the medicines are expected to offer up to 12 hours of pain relief per dose.

The FDA’s approval of this product aligns with President Trump’s Great Health Care Plan, a federal effort to make more drugs verified as safe available over the counter.
It is unclear exactly when the medication will be available, but it is expected soon.
