The event, held at Leominster Golf Club in tribute to Steve ‘Olly’ Olive, who died in 2022 from Motor Neurone Disease (MND), was organised by his family, friends, and fellow club members.

More than 100 people took part, raising funds for the Herefordshire and Worcestershire MND Support Group and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Organiser Will Lindesay said: “Olly was well loved and a friend to so many people across Herefordshire.

“For some time, we had been thinking about how we could bring people together to remember him.

“It felt especially fitting to hold the event at Leominster Golf Club, where he had been a member for many years.”

MND is a terminal neurological condition that affects up to 5,000 people across the UK at any one time.

Funds raised will help provide practical and emotional support for individuals and families affected by MND across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Additional donations through the JustGiving page will support the national work of the MND Association, including research and advocacy.

Mr Lindesay said: “MND has such a profound impact on everyone affected by the disease.

“We wanted to do something positive that would help local families living with MND, while also creating a day that people could enjoy together.

“Seeing more than 100 people come along in Olly’s memory was incredibly special.”

He also paid tribute to everyone who supported the event.

Mr Lindesay said: “We are so grateful to all the golfers, volunteers, sponsors, local businesses and Hereford Lions Club for their tremendous generosity and support.

“We would also like to thank Leominster Golf Club for hosting the event.

“We were overwhelmed by the success of the day.

“Every penny raised will make a positive difference to the lives of people living with MND across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”

The next fundraising event in support of the cause will be a live music night.

It will feature the band Frontrunner and will take place at Leominster Sports and Social Club on Friday, November 20, 2026.
