“We can get even better, which is exciting”: Libby urges Rapids to show their best
The faultless start to the 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup has ensured Worcestershire Rapids have underlined their credentials as title challengers once again. Still, tournament Captain Jake Libby is demanding more from the reigning Champions.
A nervy win over Derbyshire in the opening round was followed up by a near-miss against Hampshire, where a dramatic affair went down to the final over of the match, where the hosts held on to scrape a four-run win.
However, as the old saying goes, the scorebook does not provide photos, and the table reflects what is ultimately an unscathed start, with Worcestershire two wins from two currently sitting fourth in Group B.
Having played a game less than a handful of their opponents in the group, the onus is on the visitors to maintain their impressive start and keep the pressure on the sides around them.
Libby said his bowling attack, who were under fire against Hampshire, have more than enough variety to keep him happy.
“We have probably looked at a few areas which we might need to improve on.
“I think we’ve been lucky over the last couple of years that we’ve had really good death bowlers, and we’ve still got that; it was just that on that occasion guys didn’t quite get it right.
“And that can happen, particularly in white ball cricket, but we’ll learn from it.
“Brett will certainly be coming in at some point as a sixth option there, but I am really confident with what we’ve got at our disposal.
“But ultimately just relieved that it’s two from two; we’re excited as a group. It’s a great start to the competition, but we look ahead to Yorkshire tomorrow.”
