He has agreed a new deal with the club’s owner, Simon Moran, although the contract is yet to be signed.
Burgess, 37, has spoken openly about how much he and his family are ‘loving’ their time in Warrington and want to stay beyond 2026, which is when his current term runs out.
The former South Sydney Rabbitohs and England forward, who has been at the helm since late 2023, and his wife Lucy will be expecting their third child together in January and he confirmed the birth will be ‘over here’.
After congratulating Burgess on the baby news, he said: “Thank you, we’re thrilled, we’re excited.
“We’ve loved raising our family in the north of England.
“This is our third child to be born here.
“That means I’m staying as well, doesn’t it? I’ve just basically told you that haven’t I?
“Just not signed a contract yet. It’s agreed with Simon.”
The couple welcomed their son Mack into the world 10 months ago, while daughter Robbie will turn three in September.
Burgess took over the reins as head coach from Daryl Powell and is leading his side into cementing a play-offs finish in Super League this year.
The Wire, who travel to 10th-placed Castleford Tigers on Saturday, have not been outside the top four so far this season and reached the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup.
Burgess led The Wire to Challenge Cup Finals in 2024 and 2025, the Super League semi-finals two years ago and has so far achieved a creditable 61 per cent win ratio as head coach.
He is held in high regard by the playing group at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and has garnered a lot of respect within the organisation for being on board with the club’s new direction of investing heavily in youth and giving homegrown players opportunities at the top level.
Speaking last week about his desire to stay, Burgess said: “I love it at Warrington.
“I’ve loved it since the day we arrived.
“I’ve got a young family here and we love it.
“It’s a great club, great people, fans are great, it’s mostly young lads coming through and the boys that have been here a while are top notch, and we’ve got the Foundation.
“There’s so much going on for the club.
“I feel there’s a lot of good things happening at the moment and a lot of good things still to come.
“I can’t say enough about the place.
“There’s a lot of wonderful people here and I couldn’t be happier.”
He added: “I’m just here to facilitate and hopefully improve what’s going on here on and off the field.
“I think my responsibility is to the group, and to the club it’s to get the team in great order.
“That’s my job so I’m just going to try to do that as best I can.”
