Alright, we don’t want to jump the gun, but we’ve got a feeling that August 2025’s PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium offering might be voted one of the year’s best.
For the second month in a row, Extra is made up of some really highly rated titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered spearheads the selection, and it’s followed by Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm’s fighter may not have clicked on a competitive level, but its campaign’s a great laugh, and the production values are crazy.
Unicorn Overlord is up for grabs as well — and we can’t recommend this one enough if you’re in the mood for strategic role-playing. Another gorgeous outing from the incredibly talented folks at Japanese studio Vanillaware.
And then there’s Sword of the Sea — a brand new, Journey-like adventure from ABZU and The Pathless developer Giant Squid. It’s looked like a winner every time it’s been shown, and so we’ve got high expectations for its debut on Extra.
On top of all that, there’s mental indie title Indika, the always absurd Earth Defense Force 6, and the uniquely animated Harold Halibut. There’s even an Atelier game, Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, for crying out loud!
Meanwhile, Premium’s selection is… small, but at least it’s high quality. Both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are bringing classic PS1 vibes.
