Boothman was just seven when the Games where last in her home city of Glasgow.
Despite her tender age, she can remember the spectacle, but rather the athletics than the cycling.
However, it wasn’t too long after that the teenager made her first trip to the venue she would win her maiden Games medals in, making the 15-minute journey from her house to the velodrome for her “first accreditation on the track”.
What a vital visit that was.
Now living in Spain, she returned to the familiar venue with four world junior titles, three European junior titles and world junior records to her name.
Hopes were high on her return to these shores, and from “doing my recovery rides on my old training roads,” to leaving with at least two bronze medals, it’s been a “special” time for the teenager.
For a wee while, it appeared as though there’d be one picture on the podium, but there was to be drama in the drome.
Wales’ Anna Morris was stripped of her silver in the women’s 10km scratch race, being downgraded to fifth after obstructing another sprinter, opening the door for Boothman’s bronze.
“I couldn’t be happier,” she told BBC Sport Scotland seconds after discovering she’d done the double.
“I went into that scratch just as an opportunity to race after my individual pursuit and really expected nothing.
“To come away with another medal, I literally couldn’t be happier. I can’t quite believe it.”
