What is The Madame Blanc Mysteries about?

Originally airing on Channel 5 in 2021, the first series of The Madame Blanc Mysteries followed Jean White (Lindsay) as a Cheshire based antiques dealer, who also has a home in the south of France. When she gets the news her husband has died in a car crash in France, she discovers she has been left penniless and her husband was having an affair.

Determined to find out more she moves to their home in the small village of Sainte Victoire and begins to investigate more into her husband’s death and as the season goes on she also gets involved in solving other mysteries too. She’s helped on her cases by local taxi driver Dom, played by Steve Edge.

The show has gone onto have three more seasons and has become a fan favourite of Channel 5 viewers.

Many reviewers on IMDb say the show is the perfect alternative to the more darker crime shows currently on TV, as it still provides a mystery element without all the added blood and gore. One reviewer went onto call it an “underrated gem” and another said: “The characters are great and reflect a wide variety of individuals just as in real life.”

Leading the cast of The Madame Blanc Mysteries is Sally Lindsay as antiques dealer Jean White aka Madame Blanc. Lindsay is best known for her rise to fame in the soap Coronation Street, where she played Shelley Unwin. Since then she’s gone onto star in shows such as Scott & Bailey, Mount Pleasant and many more.

Steve Edge as Dom, the local taxi driver who becomes Jean’s friend and co-investigator. Alex Gaumond as Chief Inspector André Caron, the local policeman who actually helps Jean with her cases. Sue Holderness as Judith Lloyd James, a local extravagant woman who owns a large manor house and often gets involved in the cases.
