Rocketship Bookshop has relocated from Bridge Street to a new unit at Cross Keys Shopping Centre in Salisbury, bringing its vibrant collection of children’s and young adult titles to the heart of the city’s retail district.

The shop’s curated selection ranges from picture books to young adult fiction, with recommendations for all ages.

Russell Mardell, from Rocketship Bookshop, said: “We’ve had a brilliant first week at Cross Keys.

“It’s been wonderful to see so many familiar faces and to meet new readers discovering the shop for the first time.

“We’re excited to be part of a retail community that supports independent businesses and offers something unique for Salisbury.”

Colin Wilson, from Cross Keys Shopping Centre, said: “It’s been the perfect timing for Rocketship to join us here at Cross Keys.

“With the summer holidays underway, it’s been great to see lots of young readers dropping by, and exploring the other family-friendly shops at Cross Keys along the way.”

In addition to its wide selection of books, the shop plans to continue hosting regular events with schools, authors, and illustrators.

Rocketship Bookshop is open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and Saturdays from 9.30 am to 5 pm.

The move was made a success with the help of the public, as Rocketship launched a fundraising page to help make up the shortfall and cover some of the expenses that came with relocating.

Shoppers donated an incredible £1,805 to the cause.

Russell helped out manager Jo Boyles to open Rocketship in February 2020 and has worked there ever since.

The two of them did the move by themselves.
