Swansea City are close to signing a left-back on loan as Vitor Matos moves towards finalising the squad he wants for the new Championship season.
Matos expects a swoop to land a left-sided defender to provide cover for Josh Tymon to be finalised in the next few days.
Swansea are also in the market for a central midfielder having sold Ethan Galbraith and lost loanee Malick Yalcouye this summer, while another option at centre-back is also on the club’s radar.
The Championship side have brought in attacking midfielders Elijah Just, Joseph Opoku and Moussa Yeo and defender Stephen Welsh so far this summer.
“The market is still open, and when it’s open there’s always possibilities, and that’s where are at the moment,” Matos said.
“Of course we need a little more depth in some parts of the pitch and we are working on that. That’s the project.”
Marko Stamenic started at the base of midfield as Swansea beat Leganes 1-0 in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday, with Just and Melker Widell playing in more advanced roles behind Adam Idah.
Jay Fulton came off the bench in the second half but, with Goncalo Franco sidelined by a significant injury, Swansea are light on midfield options as they prepare for next Saturday’s Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City.
