Two arrests after man shot dead at Cricklade traveller site

Two people have been arrested after a man was shot dead at a traveller site, police have said.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene in Calcutt, near Cricklade, at about 08:15 BST, Wiltshire Police said.

The force said a man in his 70s and a woman in her 40s had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and assisting an offender. They remain in police custody.

Det Ch Insp Phil Walker, from Wiltshire Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, said a murder investigation was under way and inquiries were ongoing “to establish the circumstances which have led to this incident and locate all the people involved”.
