Norfolk County Council has proposed building a toucan crossing on Greenway Lane, near the junction with Holt Road, along with other safety improvements aimed at protecting those travelling around the town.

The plans also include changes at the Holt Road and Thorpland Road junctions, where shared-use paths and a refuge island would be created, narrowing the junctions and making it easier to cross.

Cllr. Robert Jamieson, Norfolk County Council local representative for Fakenham & The Raynhams Division, said: “I strongly support the introduction of a toucan crossing on Greenway Lane, as it will significantly improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists in the area.

“To help inform the design, I urge residents, and those with an interest, to take part in this consultation.

“This will help ensure the scheme reflects local needs and delivers the greatest benefit to the community.”

The council has launched an informal public consultation and is encouraging people to share their feedback.
