Kieran Trippier is the latest big name to have been linked with a move away from Newcastle United.

Trippier has been a remarkable signing for Newcastle United but is surely approaching the autumn of his career.

The 34-year-old remains a key part of Eddie Howe’s squad but Trippier has recently been linked with a move to Monaco

The French side have already signed former Premier League stars in Eric Dier and Paul Pogba this summer and are reportedly keen on the Toon defender too.

After a difficult second full season on Tyneside, Trippier returned to form towards the back end of the 2024/25 campaign and proved brilliant as Newcastle won the Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League.

The former England star started for Newcastle against Aston Villa on Saturday as the Premier League returned, but will face competition for his place now that Lewis Hall has returned to full fitness.

Amid the recent transfer links, an update on his future has emerged.

According to The Chronicle, Trippier is remaining focused on Newcastle despite suggestions that Monaco are keen.

Still, it’s also added that the veteran is ideally looking for a two-year contract at this stage of his career.

Trippier’s deal expires on Tyneside at the end of the season, and there is currently no update in regard to an extension.

The report adds that Howe does not want to lose Trippier, which is understandable given the impact he’s had on the club since his arrival.

Kieran Trippier has been considering his options at Newcastle United

Back in July, it was revealed that Trippier was considering his options about potentially leaving Newcastle.

Trippier wants regular football which may not be forthcoming at Newcastle once Hall is fully back to speed.

Newcastle, however, would be foolish to cash in.

The former Tottenham and Atletico Madrid star offers so much experience and that will be needed during a campaign that sees the return of Champions League football to St James’ Park.
