A man gave a special performance for a sea lion at a conservation center, and the sea lion’s reaction is absolutely precious.
In a TikTok video by viral animal serenader Plumes, the sea lion named Gonzo listened intently as Plumes sang for him. In the video, Gonzo sat on a rock nearby Plumes while he sang for him before he quickly swam over to him. He sniffed him out of curiosity and continued to enjoy the song. Gonzo seemed content to stand in front of Plumes while he sang, and eventually began to sway along.
When Plumes finished singing, he reached out to Gonzo so he could sniff him some more. The sweet sea lion even gave Plumes a little nose boop on his cap to show his appreciation for the performance.
People online were absolutely obsessed with the adorable moment, with users commenting, “he’s so sweet!! 🥹”
“He didn’t even dive,” another person wrote when Gonzo swam over to him. “He skated across to listen and say thank you.” Others pointed out that “music is the universal language,” and it was especially apparent when the sea lion was “swaying back and forth 🥲 he wanted more!”

Are Sea Lions an endangered species?
The World Wildlife Fund classified Sea Lions as an endangered species because of several threats to their population.
According to the organization, some species “carry diseases that can spread to sea lions,” and they are “vulnerable to the effects of climate change on ocean currents, which impacts their fish prey abundance.”
There are many species of sea lions worldwide, but they are the “most common mammal” in the Galápagos.
According to the Galápagos Conservancy, the ” waters are some of the most nutrient-rich and biodiverse on Earth,” which “allows Galápagos to support a wider variety of species than just about anywhere else in the world.” Climate change affects water temperatures and currents, which in turn affect all the species living in the area, especially the sea lions, which “have a major influence on the entire food chain in the Islands.”
“Galápagos Sea Lions and Fur Seals are considered to be sentinel species – species that are sensitive to environmental disturbances and that provide an early warning that ecosystems are out of balance before other species display those effects,” the Conservancy explained. “The steep decline in populations of both Sea Lions and Fur Seals in the last four generations is a sign of dysfunction in Galápagos marine ecosystems.”
