More than 330,000 extra GP appointments will be offered across Lincolnshire each year after an investment in healthcare buildings.
The Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board says 28 GP practices across the county have had upgrades and reconfigurations to their buildings after receiving money from the Primary Care Utilisation and Modernisation Fund.
This includes medical centres and practices in Long Bennington, Market Rasen, Birchwood, Woodhall Spa, Harrowby and Nettleham.
Part of the improvements has included adding additional consulting and clinical rooms, allowing practices to increase appointment capacity.
In the 2025/26 year, GP practices in the county held 5,888,183 appointments across 81 practices.
Thanks to the £1.2m investment in Lincolnshire upgrades around 338,000 more appointments can be offered each year.
This is part of the £18m in funding received across the Midlands, where a further 2.6m appointments will be carried out annually across the region.
These figures were released as part of the government’s announcement of a capital development plan to rebuild the NHS over the next decade and bring care closer to home in local communities instead of hospitals.
Minister of State for Health, Karin Smyth, said: “NHS patients – and the brilliant staff who care for them – deserve modern buildings, reliable equipment and services fit for the future.
“Too many NHS buildings are crumbling and outdated. This government is taking the long-term decisions needed to rebuild the health service.
“Our 10 Year Capital Plan backs that ambition with record investment and reforms that will help patients get faster appointments, better facilities, modern technology and more care closer to home for patients across the country.”
Over the next nine years the government promises to invest at least £6.75 billion into repairing hospitals, replacing unsafe buildings, tackling the maintenance backlog and reducing the disruptions that can lead to cancelled appointments and delayed treatment.
As part of the plan, 250 neighbourhood health centres will be delivered to bring GPs, diagnostic tests, community and other services under one roof, making it easier for patients to reach care closer to their homes.
