Google is releasing official teaser videos for its products, one after another, ahead of this year’s Made By Google event. The latest one on the floor showcases the upcoming Pixel Watch 5 in a 20-second video clip.
Featuring the theme of its recent videos, the Pixel Watch 5 teaser reveals the device in a dark environment. “Imagine a watch that tracks your health, sleep and fitness…but still has the decency to look like a watch,” says the deep voice in the background.
Its watch face features an analog clock. Google wants to leave an impression that its smartwatch can track your health, sleep, and fitness. But at the end of the day, you should still consider it as a normal watch, not a computer tied to your wrist.
The search giant also appears to mock Apple Watch, which has had a rectangular design since the start, and Samsung Galaxy Watch, which now looks like a rounded square or squircle. That said, the Pixel Watch 5 doesn’t appear to be much different from the Watch 4.
Google noted that the device will be compatible with most smartphones running Android 12 or later versions. One thing you can surely expect from the upcoming Pixel devices is a higher price tag, which Google recently confirmed.
Its freshly baked teaser comes just days after Google teased the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Google will unwrap all of these devices on August 12 (6 PM ET) at its Made By Google event. Speaking of which, the search giant released another video to reveal the celebrities who will be featured during the event, including:
Alex Cooper (American podcaster)
Shubman Gill (Indian cricketer)
Ayami Nakajo (Japanese actress and model)
Stephen Curry (American NBA champion)
Mady By Google will be hosted by the popular comedian and writer Trevor Noah. However, as it appears in the comments, some people are not buying Google’s idea of keeping a tech event star-studded. Jimmy Fallon hosted last year’s Pixel launch, trying to keep the excitement high and planting some tech-related jokes. It remains to be seen whether Google just wants to make its tech look more fun or is making up for the lack of it.
