A new Sherlock Holmes series is officially in the works from Psych star Andy Berman. According to Deadline, Sherlock’s Secretary will centre around a “quirky London woman whose job is responding to the thousands of letters addressed to the world’s greatest detective”.
“After years of answering them, she unknowingly becomes the closest living thing to Sherlock Holmes,” continues the description.
The series follows the secretary as she begins investigating the various real mysteries that are being sent to 221B Baker Street.

Reality TV veteran producer Bruce Nash pitched the idea to Berman after hearing about Sherlock’s real-life secretary.
Though the character, created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is fictional, the letters he received from the public were genuine.
“When I learned there was an actual person whose job was answering letters sent to Sherlock Holmes, I knew there was a television series hiding inside that story,” Nash explained.
“Andy immediately saw a fresh way into the Sherlock universe, and I couldn’t be more excited to see it find a home at USA.”

Berman is reportedly already penning the pilot and will serve as a showrunner. He and Nash will also executive produce the series, alongside Michael Van Dyke.
Meanwhile, Gug Kyriacou will serve as a consultant, after taking on the role as Sherlock’s secretary in real life for many years. Abbey National employee Kyriacou worked at the building society’s Baker Street branch – which is the address for the fictional detective.
Details regarding the cast and release dates are yet to be announced. Previous stars who have portrayed Sherlock include Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr, Henry Cavill and most recently, Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
