A Leigh Leopards icon came out of retirement this weekend, playing for the club’s reserve side against Bradford Bulls.
Gregg McNally hung up the boots at the end of last season after playing for Rochdale, but returned to the field on Saturday to help out his former side.
McNally made 176 of his 350 career appearances at the Leopards, or Centurions as they were then called, between 2012 and 2020.
A former Bradford, Whitehaven, Huddersfield and Oldham man, the 35-year-old featured at full-back in the club’s 54-12 thumping of the Bulls.
Elsewhere in the reserves, Wakefield Trinity pulled off a huge win over Leeds Rhinos in a curtain-raiser before the two’s Super League clash.
Trinity won 28-16, with a first-team halves pairing of Max Jowitt and Myles Lawford helping them to victory. Leeds had the likes of Riley Lumb, Fergie McCormack and Jeremiah Mata’utia in their side, but couldn’t come away with the points.
On Sunday, Wigan Warriors took a 24-10 win over Warrington Wolves to keep their 100% record in tact. Wigan found themselves 10-0 down early on, but managed to claw their way back into the contest, and now look certain to be in the Grand Final.

Winger Abbas Miski scored two tries in the comeback. The Lebanese international is unable to play in Super League this season due to salary cap restrictions.
The other top six game was due to be Hull FC v Castleford, but that was postponed due to a lack of available Tigers players.
The reserves competition is now split into two, with the top and bottom six sides at the end of the regular campaign facing off before the Grand Final.
As well as the Leigh-Bradford game, the bottom six group saw London Broncos travel to Huddersfield Giants, and it would be the West Yorkshire outfit who emerged 46-26 victors.
The game between St Helens and Hull KR was cancelled due to a lack of St Helens players available, meaning that the players who were fit found loan moves in the Championship.
