Local golfers Patience Rhodes and Davina Xanh of Burnham & Berrow Golf Club have played key roles in helping England Women win their Home Internationals, rounding off a hugely successful week of competition for the national squads.
At Monifieth Golf Links in Scotland, England Women produced a strong run of results, defeating Wales 13‑8 on day one, overcoming Scotland 11.5‑9.5 on Wednesday, and sealing the final‑day victory over Ireland 13‑8. Patience Rhodes was one of England’s standout performers, going unbeaten across the tournament and collecting 5.5 points from her six matches.
England Golf’s Girls’ & Boys’ Team also continued their remarkable record by winning the combined Home Internationals for the sixth consecutive year. The Boys enjoyed a dominant week, winning all three of their matches, while the Girls finished second overall, missing out on the title by just half a match point after beating Wales and drawing with Scotland and Ireland.
There were strong partnerships throughout the Boys’ squad, with Charlie Rusbridge and Cameron Mukherjee winning all three of their foursomes matches together, as did Ben Sessions and George Cooper. Rusbridge finished with 5 points from 6, while Mukherjee remained unbeaten with 4.5 from 5. Aaron Moody collected 4.5 points from 6, and Sessions matched Rusbridge’s tally with five wins from six.
For the Girls, Summer Carash went unbeaten with 3.5 points from 5, while Mia Ingham won all her singles matches and finished with 5 points from 6.
England Girls’ & Boys’ Captain Jamie O’Connor praised the determination shown across both squads, saying the coaches and staff were incredibly proud of the players after a week of close, hard‑fought contests. He highlighted the Boys’ consistency in the foursomes and the Girls’ resilience in taking their title challenge right to the final moments.
Meanwhile, England’s Women and Men both won their individual titles at the separate Home Internationals event in Ireland, despite finishing second overall after losing the combined match to Ireland 11.5‑9.5 on the final day at Woodbrook Golf Club in County Wicklow.
The Women enjoyed victories over Scotland, Wales and Ireland, with Charlotte Naughton winning all five of her matches. Patience Rhodes again impressed, going unbeaten with 5.5 points from 6, while Sophia Fullbrook and Lauren Crump each collected five wins from six.
The Men secured wins over Scotland and Wales before a final‑day defeat to Ireland, edging the individual title on match points. Ben Bolton won all three of his singles matches, while Jenson Bull and Max Hopkins were among England’s strongest performers.
