Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale’s Kev Barton clashes with Caleb Miligan next week, as he’s dragged into the Miligans’ manipulative plot to con their business partner Jimmy King. Desperate to leave his criminal past behind, could Kev end up back behind bars after being persuaded to do one last job?

“Jimmy is looking for money, so Caleb and Ruby see it as an opportunity to buy him out of the haulage firm,” begins Will Ash, who plays Caleb. “Ruby has the idea to stitch Jimmy up and make him lose a contract – allowing her and Caleb to buy him out of Home James at a cutdown price.”

When he gets a lucrative new haulage client, Jimmy reckons his money troubles will soon be over. Unbeknown to him, Caleb and Ruby plan to take control of his business from under his nose by using a stooge to do their dirty work…

“Ruby and Caleb enlist Kev to rob Jimmy’s van!” explains Chris Coghill, aka Kev, as he takes up the story. “They hope this will send the business into a spiral, and enable Caleb to get his hands on it.

“Ruby tells Kev there’s a massive haul on the truck which he will benefit from – but he actually ends up with 3,000 nappies!”

Thanks to Kev, Home James is severely destabilised, leaving Jimmy practically potless. If only someone was prepared to make an offer to take the ailing business off his hands…

Fuming that he’s been duped, Kev threatens Ruby with revenge – only to be put in his place when she reveals she has CCTV footage of him attacking Billy at the depot.

“They use it to blackmail Kev into keeping quiet,” reveals Chris. “Kev was trying to stop Steve robbing the depot, and Billy was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Kev gave him a little tap to stop him in his tracks, but Billy ended up in a coma. Kev thought he’d got away with it, but the CCTV shows Kev standing over Billy with a crowbar – it looks bad!”

“Ruby thinks she and Caleb can outmanoeuvre Kev, but I don’t think they know how to handle him,” adds Will. “He’s such a loose cannon, Kev is a weapon you just can’t combat.”

Determined to get the upper hand, Kev grabs his chance when he sees Caleb using his laptop at the café. The computer contains the damning depot CCTV footage, so orchestrating a clumsy accident, Kev spills water over the device and destroys the evidence!

But later at Billy and Dawn’s ‘sten do’, sozzled Kev lets slip to the groom-to-be that he’s sorry about the attack. This is news to Billy, who thought his arch-enemy Joe was behind the violent assault! Will he reveal the truth, or let everyone continue to point the finger at the wrong man?

Meanwhile, Jimmy thinks he has no choice but to take Caleb’s offer and sell his shares for a reduced fee – unaware he’s being conned! Will cocky Caleb’s deceit be exposed?

“There’s always collateral damage with Caleb,” laments Will. “He’s selfish and driven, and will look after himself and Ruby before anyone else. Caleb can’t help but be drawn to being bad…”
