Stellan Skarsgård has been spotted filming an exciting new spy thriller series. The untitled Apple TV show was announced earlier this year, and is set to co-star Dakota Fanning.
Created by Homeland’s Alex Cary, the story focuses on “an undercover Treasury agent in a multibillion-dollar international conglomerate with world-changing political and criminal tentacles”.
However, Fanning’s character “becomes conflicted between her mission and a belief that her principal target, the heir apparent to all that corrupt power, is at his core a good man and worthy of her love”.

Skarsgård can be seen in new filming pictures dressed in a black suit and tie alongside co-stars Grace Gummer and Joely Richardson, presumably for a funeral scene.
Alongside the aforementioned stars, the series also features Peaky Blinders’ Daryl McCormack, The Girlfriend Experience’s Louisa Krause and This Is Us’ Susan Kelechi Watson.
The series comes off the back of a stellar year for Skarsgård, who earned an Oscar nomination for his role in Sentimental Value, which co-starred Dakota’s sister Elle.
Elsewhere, back in February the actor cast doubt on a return as Bill Anderson in a potential third Mamma Mia! movie.

“Oh, yeah. I mean, I don’t know if they’ll be able to transport me to the set!” he quipped to Gold Derby. “I’m so old, I’ll probably be dead when it happens. I’ll come as ashes and play it from an urn.”
He also reflected on how he is now compared to his younger days as an actor, sharing: “As a younger actor, you are more at the mercy of the director, because the director doesn’t ask you [about your performance]. You come in like nobody, and they say: ‘Stand over there’.
“Eventually, when you have a couple of years under your wings, then they’ll say, ‘What do you think?'”
The currently untitled series will air on Apple TV.
