St Serfs tennis club, Goldenacre, held a day of wide ranging festivities to mark their centenary.

On court the occasion embraced junior activities, wooden racquet matches and an exhibition involving Jed Alexander and Alex Lalos who helped the St Serf’s men’s first team win VMH Solicitors East Division One this season, against Thistle pair Reuben Henry and Philip Blythe.

Off court Dougie Hamilton – 50 years a member – traced the history and highlights of the club before a traditional tennis team featured heavily in proceedings. Earlier the day had been launched by another stalwart member, Alex Harkins, Tennis Development Officer for Edinburgh Leisure.

Adding lustre to the celebrations were the fact that the men’s 2nds and 3rds were promoted this season as were the women’s 3rds.
